Some of them shouldn't be touched by anyone but a licensed professional. FixItCity exists to tell you which is which, and to help with both.
What we do

How we write and check our guides
We write for people who aren't handy and may be stressed, in plain language and large, readable type. We check steps against manufacturer instructions and safety agencies such as the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the Department of Energy and the U.S. Fire Administration, and we list our sources at the end of each guide.
Our safety rules don't bend: power off and tested before electrical work, water off before plumbing work, no gas line work, nothing inside the electrical panel, and no steep or high roof work. Codes, permits and licensing differ by state and city, and we say so.
